NGC 4088 - Arp 18

Object: NGC 4088 galaxy in Ursa Major, 11.1m, 5.8' x 2.2', type SAB(rs)bc, distance 42 Mly (13 Mpc). South is up and West is to the left. The frame size is 8.5' x 5.6'.

Subimages: Unfiltered 37 x 240 sec (~2.5 hrs). Bias/Dark and camera flat calibrated.
Scope: C11XLT EFL=2970 mm (f/10.5 effective)
Mount: Losmandy G11 with Gemini L4
Camera: ST7EI (0.63"/pixel) set to -15C.
Guiding: SX716 on a Taurus Tracker III OAG.
Acquisition and processing: MaxIm DL/CCD v4.5

Classified by Arp as a "Detached Segments" type, the segment in this case is on the NE end, however the spiral arms are also oddly shaped. Instead of graceful curves the northern arm is nearly straight while the southern arm has a 90 deg crook on the end.
